IAWA Celebrates National Translation Month @ at Carmine Street Metrics

IAWA joins Loren Kleinman and Claudia Serea founders of National Translation Month (NTM) co-hosted by Anton Yakovlev, Wendy Sloan, and Kate Bernadette Benedict to celebrate NTM for a special reading of translated poetry and a tribute to Italian American translator and co-curator of IAWA’s monthly literary reading series, Gil Fagiani who passed away April 12, 2018. NTM celebrates literary works in translation every year in September.

Brooklyn Book Festival

Bordighera Press and the Italian American Writers Association (IAWA) will once again be sharing a table at The Brooklyn Book Festival, one of America’s premier book festivals and the largest free literary event in New York City.

Presenting an array of national and international literary stars and emerging authors, the Festival includes a week of Bookend Events throughout New York City, a lively Children’s Day and a celebratory Festival Day with more than 300 authors plus 250 booksellers filling a vibrant outdoor Literary Marketplace.

New York City IAWA Literary Series Presents September 2018

The Italian American Writers Association is celebrating its 27th Anniversary in 2018.

Since 1991, IAWA has given voice to writers through its monthly 2nd Saturday literary series.  IAWA East is held even months at Sidewalk Café. IAWA West takes place at Cornelia Street Café during odd months. Readings begin with an Open Mic followed by two featured authors.

Saturday, September 8:

John Domini has published three novels and three books of stories, the latest MOVIEOLA! (Dzanc, 2016).

Tim Tomlinson is a co-founder of New York Writers Workshop; This Is Not Happening to You, is his first short fiction collection.

WHO: Gordon Gilbert, longtime NYC west villager, performs his poetry, songs and monologues in the metropolitan area. He also has written short stories and a play, Monologues from the Old Folks Home, produced 9 times at various NYC venues. Over the last eight years, Gordon has hosted many NYC poetry readings celebrating famous poets and writers (especially the beat generation). For some years now he has also held a “Remembrances of 9/11″ reading in September.

Susan Weiman is celebrating the publication of her first chapbook at this event: New York-ish: Poetry and Prose (NoNet Press). She writes literary nonfiction, flash fiction, and poetry. Her work has been published in First Literary Review-EastPOST(blank), Riverside Poets Anthologies, Boog City Online, Home Planet News Online, From Somewhere to Nowhere: The End of the American Dream, Citylore.org and other online journals. Weiman is an artist, jewelry maker and iPhone photographer.
