Italian Americana and VIA, the two national Italian American journals that feature poetry and fiction by Italian Americans, are coming together on Friday, April 7 for an historic event: a joint poetry reading at the Calandra Italian American Institute, 25 West 43rd Street, 17th Floor. Dean Anthony Tamburri is hosting, and Peter Covino and Maria Terrone, as poetry editors of VIA and Italian Americana respectively, will be moderating. Refreshments will be served. The Italian American Writers Association 2nd Saturday Reading Series. Poets Judith Vollmer and Stephen Massimilla will read from their latest works.
Vollmer is the author of five full-length books of poetry, including The Apollonia Poems, winner of the Four Lakes Poetry Prize of the University of Wisconsin Press (2017).
Massimilla won the New England Book Award and a US News Best Book Finalist Award for Cooking with the Muse; A Sumptuous Gathering of Seasonal Recipes, Culinary Poetry and Literary Fare (Tupelo, 2016).
