In the time of the coronavirus outbreak IAWA is hosting Zoom Salon poetry readings.
Temporary Suspension of Mulberry Street Programs
Dear friends and members of IAWA the Italian American Writers Association:
New York Public Library / NYPL Mulberry Street and other locations have temporarily suspended their public programs as a precaution in light of the Corona Virus.
Thus this month’s IAWA NYC Literary Series and Open Mic has been suspended.
IAWA is still operating as an organization with its Literary Series.
We will keep you in the loop about IAWA’s April Literary Series at Mulberry Street in the coming weeks.
As a precaution taken by Mulberry Street the March program has been suspended for this month.
We will keep you posted as to when the next IAWA reading will be held at Mulberry Street.

Journeys on the Wheel (Bordighera Press) is B. Amore’s first poetry collection. An artist, writer, she has also authored An Italian American Odyssey: Through Ellis Island and Beyond, Art by Mexican Farmworkers in Vermont, Carving Out a Dream, and has written numerous articles that have appeared in journals and revues. She is a founder of the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center and has been awarded Fulbright and Mellon Fellowships, public art commissions, and the Lifeline-filo della vita exhibit at Ellis Island.
When I Am Italian: Quando sono italiana (2019) is Joanna Clapps Herman’s most recent publication that explores the question of whether it’s possible to be Italian if you weren’t born in Italy. Other books include a collection of short stories, No Longer and Not Yet (2014), and a memoir, The Anarchist Bastard (2011). She is co-editor of two anthologies: Wild Dreams (2008) and Our Roots Are Deep with Passion (2006).

Mary Cappello and MaryAnn L. Miller
Mary Capello’s six books of literary nonfiction include a New York Times bestselling detour on awkwardness; a breast cancer anti-chronicle; a lyric biography; and the mood fantasia Life Breaks In. A former Guggenheim and Berlin Prize Fellow, she is a professor of English and creative writing at the University of Rhode Island.
MaryAnn L. Miller is the author of Cures for Hysteria (Finishing Line Press, 2018). A three-time Pushcart nominee, her work has appeared in Mom Egg Review, Wild River Review, Presence, Ovunque Siamo, Stillwater Review,, Wordgathering, The International Review of African American Art, and others. She publishes artist books through Lucia Press.
