Angela Derecas Taylor & Open Mic

2nd Thursday, June 12, 2025

6-8 PM

Born and raised in East Harlem, LuLu LoLo Pascale is a playwright/actor and performance artist. She has written and performed eight one-person plays focused on women’s struggles in New York City history:  the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, Mother Cabrini, and the lesbian lover of murder victim Kitty Genovese. Her public action, Where Are the Women? (2015) brought attention to the lack of public monuments dedicated to women in New York City and was featured in the New York Times. As a Board Member of Remember the Triangle Fire Coalition, LuLu worked to install the permanent Triangle Memorial in 2023.

Angela Derecas Taylor grew up in 1960’s Greenwich Village in Angelina’s Restaurant, an establishment founded in 1936 by her great-grandmother. The restaurant remained owned and operated by the women on her maternal side for 55 years, and lives on today through many of her stories and shared recipes. Retired from careers in hospitality and municipal government, Angela passes time in NYC, Florida and Italy, organizing workshops and retreats for writers and artists through her partnership with Key to the Castle Workshop, LLC.
