Since 1991, IAWA has given voice to writers through its literary series every second Saturday of the month. IAWA East is held even months at Sidewalk Café and IAWA West continues at Cornelia Street Café on odd months.

WHO: Nancy Caronia is a Lecturer in the Honors Program at University of Rhode Island, where she teaches contemporary literature, composition, and creative writing. Caronia’s creative writing has most recently appeared in Animal, New Delta Review, Lowestoft Chronicles, biostories,and The Missing Slate . Her scholarship appears in peer-reviewed journals, including AEQ , Italian American Review , and Essays on Italian American Literature and Culture . She is co-editor of Personal Effects: Essays on Memoir, Culture, and Teaching in the Work of Louise DeSalvo (co-edited with Edvige Giunta) and wrote the introduction for the reprint of Louise DeSalvo’s Casting Off (Bordighera Press, 2014).
Edvige Giunta is Professor of English at New Jersey City University, where she teaches memoir and other literature and writing courses. She is the author of Writing with an Accent: Contemporary Italian American Women Authors and Dire l’indicibile . She is co-editor of The Milk of Almonds: Italian American Women Writers on Food and Culture (coedited with Louise DeSalvo); Italian American Writers on New Jersey (coedited with Maria Mazziotti Gillan and Jennifer Gillan); Teaching Italian American Literature, Film, and Popular Culture (co-edited with Kathleen Zamboni. McCormick); Embroidered Stories: Interpreting Women’s Domestic Needlework from the Italian Diaspora (co-edited with Joseph Sciorra); and Personal Effects: Essays on Memoir, Culture, and Teaching in the Work of Louise DeSalvo (co-edited with Nancy Caronia).
